I measured boot times on both the Linux/Flash disk model and the XP/HD model. 75 seconds for XP, 15-20 seconds for Linux.
On the other hand, the HD model is only a little more expensive, has a lot more storage and more RAM. What I really want is to buy it, then install Acer's version of Linux as dual boot. Fast booting when I want it, XP when I want it.
Is there any good reason why that wouldn't work? Acer hasn't yet offered Linux on the version with a physical hard disk.
