    Install launcher pro yet?

I have the exact same cover!
Got from HK for about $1

I also rooted and bought Titanium so I can now sync backups to freaking Dropbox! Amazing.

You can buy some apps directly from the developer. No automatic updates but I bought PhoneWeaver, QuickOffice and Titanium that way. Try pocketgear's Android site. They're based in Germany so probably have Belgian billing.

I also mount my SD once a week and rsync -avz to my Mac. Sooooo Awesome.

You might be able to find another camera app. Should be possible to support ogg or flac audio codec as it's already there. The startup and shutdown sounds are lossless. I deleted them though.

btw - I'm on JM2 and Goog Nav works perfectly.

Nice idea, doing a video test on your home town. Made me dial up Google Maps to look up Tongeren.
See that you are also a DS9 fan - my favourite Trek series.

And, as someone who is poised to upgrade his iPod Touch + ancient cellphone to either an "Apple-of-my-Eye" Phone, an "Out-of-this-World" Galaxy or perhaps a Desirable HTC, I was very interested in your comments and demonstration.

But, dear Knightwise, saying that the iPhone is MUCH too expensive is a bit over the top, surely. It's only a 14% increase over the Galaxy (630 / 550 according to your figures) and the extra EUR 80 is surely worth the better sound and display quality (not to mention coolness factor). Unless of course you rank FRRRREEEEDDDDOMMM more highly, which is the direction I'm thinking in!

  • PietS  - Thanks for the video

    Hoi K,

    Alles goed?

    Piet

    Ok :) Feedback time

@ Eric : Thanx for the info :) i'm a Noob when it comes to the Galaxy S and look to you for my Guru-information. Rooting the phone does seem very tempting. Is it hard to do ? What are the pro's (Noob question, i know). I've also been thinkning about using dropbox as a "sync" medium to upload content to the phone (podcasts for example) over the air. (something i'll probably talk about in the next show)
As for Rsyncing your Sd card : I indeed LOVE the fact you can "approach" the storage on the phone like a mass storage device. Flexibility ftw.

@georomancer : Thanx for your feedback You are correct in the fact that the price difference between the 550 euro GalaxyS and the 630 euro Iphone 4 is very small. Considering that the Galaxy S is actually MORE expensive then the HTC desire is also something that we should not forget. Its still a pretty expensive phone (if you buy it off the shelf) so you are right in that account. Would i pay the extra 80 euro's for an iphone 4 ? I probably would. Do i love the fact that i can yell 'freedom' .. Yes i DO :)
Tongeren is indeed a pretty nice town to live. Its ancient and the 'tech level' of the population is LOW , but still its quite nice.

@piets : Yep , it does feel like all the 'phone interfaces' are leaning towards the IOS side.
And yo are correct that if i buy BOTH the ipod touch AND the Galaxy that i'm no longer 'under' the pricepoint for an iphone, but i'm looking for ways to use the Galaxy S to do some videoblogging and stuff. Using an external mike and the right software I should be able to pull it off (ironically i'm going to test using a set of IPHONE headphone/mike cables this week)
I have good news in the fact that i CAN BUY apps in the app store (started this week) so i'm thrilled about that. The Galaxy S does feel "cheaper" then the Iphone 4, that is correct, but i would argue about the screen quality. OUtside the Amoled is not that awesome, but inside its pretty cool.

Thanx everyone for the feedback Btw .. this really adds to the value of the show !
